Sign Ahead is a non profit organization founded in Atlanta, GA, USA. We are also establishing a branch in Ghana, West Africa. Our focus is on empowering the deaf and hard of hearing communities
by establishing programs and providing resources to facilitate the needs of the deaf, hard of hearing as well as its supporters. FACTS:
More than 90 percent of deaf children are born to hearing parents Believe it or not, many deaf children's parents don't know sign language! We strive to implement programs that will encourage and teach caregivers and family/friends how to communicate with their deaf or hard of hearing loved one in their language. Men are almost twice as likely as women to have hearing loss among adults aged 20-69. One in eight people in the United States (13 percent, or 30 million) aged 12 years or older has hearing loss in both ears, based on standard hearing examinations. About 2 percent of adults aged 45 to 54 have disabling hearing loss. |
